What is a CrossFit Workout

First, let us get the monster out of the room. CrossFit is for everyone, certainly our gym has few people that have developed excellent fitness through continuous training. However, most of us are somewhere in the journey of simply becoming a little more fit than we were the week before. You will find at our Carlsbad gym a good mix of beginners and intermediate level CrossFiters.

What Can I Expect At A CrossFit Workout?

As previously stated, the cool thing about CrossFit is that each workout is different.  The workouts are functional exercises that mimic real-life movements, and usually require little or no equipment.

Some of the most common elements are:

  • Burpees
  • Running
  • Push-ups
  • Sit-ups
  • Box jumps
  • Assault bike (stationary bike)
  • Battle Ropes
  • Movements with barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells, jump ropes, pull-up bars, rings, medicine balls and much more.

The idea is to continuously mix up the workouts to better develop all aspects of your fitness. CrossFit workouts are always new, fun and different each day. We post our workout of the day or WOD online so you know what’s coming.

I’m Weak and Could Never Do A “hard core” Workout Like This

We hear you! CrossFit may conjure up images of super-jacked bros lifting 200lb barbells overhead, but understand that almost every movement or exercise in our CrossFit program is adjustable to your ability. In other words, we will show you how to adjust whatever exercise you see as scary, hard or impossible to something we know you can achieve. You’re going to find out, YOU CAN do this!

For example, if you haven’t fully mastered a traditional push-up, no worries, we will have you modify the exercise by starting on your knees. Resistance bands can help you master a series of pull-ups until you’re strong enough to complete one on your own, and you can always adjust the weight you stack onto your barbell. Many of us started with no weight at all!

This is a no Judgement gym, as a matter of fact all of us have been through the starting stages and we’re always here to encourage you to make gains at a pace that is healthy for you.
