Kim Ball is an experienced Fitness Professional and owner of Deliberate Movement in Oceanside, California. Kim’s passion lies in helping individuals to strive for their physical potential. Her approach relies heavily on the implementation of restorative measures and the preservation of movement. She uses tools from physical therapy, gymnastics, yoga, and any other movement specialty that might help improve fitness, strength, or recovery. Over the past 13 years, Kim has worked with private and semi-private clients, led outdoor fitness “bootcamp” groups, offered ongoing Tough Mudder training challenges, developed a strength and conditioning program for the Long Beach Roller Derby, and taught group mobility workshops at corporations and CrossFit gyms. She has been working as a coach at Vista CrossFit and Carlsbad CrossFit since November 2016.
Kim holds Master’s Degrees in Exercise Physiology and Nutritional Sciences from San Diego State University (2006). But her journey into fitness and movement began long before her formal education. Kim was a high level competitive gymnast for 15 years, earning a scholarship to the University of Illinois at Chicago for her efforts. Once she retired from her beloved sport in 2000, Kim completed the Chicago marathon twice, participated in a figure (physique) competition in 2007, finished two SoCal Tough Mudder races, and competed in the 2009 CrossFit Games as one of seven Southern California female qualifiers. While Kim hasn’t been competing in any events in the most recent years, she does maintain constant continuing education in all fields of health, fitness, wellness, and recovery, and she is extremely passionate about her work as a Fitness Professional.
