Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background. (Where did you grow up, where do you work, Family, etc.)
I was born in Oceanside, but was raised in Ukiah, CA. I am currently enrolled in a private nursing program and will graduate and take my boards to become an LVN in the middle of October 2016. I will then apply for RN programs and hopefully pursue my education in the Nursing field continuing in the Spring of 2017. I currently live in Oceanside with my boyfriend and one of my best friends.
What hobbies do you enjoy outside of the gym?
I honestly devote my life to school and the gym. I believe that without CrossFit I would no longer have any sanity left and nursing school would be 10X more difficult to get through. Walking into the gym is my favorite part of each and every day.
What did you first expect when you joined CrossFit?
When I first started CrossFit all I wanted was to lose weight. I thought it was way too expensive and I would do it for a few months and go back to a regular gym. I was WRONG. A year ago I dreamed of finishing an RX workout. I never expected to fall in love and become obsessed with fitness like I am.
What has been the most rewarding part of joining CrossFit?
The most rewarding thing about CrossFit is feeling comfortable in my own skin. I have never been happy with my body and I can finally admit that I am.
What are some of your goals, personal and fitness, for the future?
My one and only goal in CF is to continue to build strength and endurance every day.
What is your favorite workout?
My favorite workout would have to be FRAN, because I completed FRAN ALOT quicker than I ever thought was possible and surprised myself with the accomplishment.
How has CrossFit benefited your life beyond fitness and the gym?
CrossFit has benefited my life in more ways than one but an important benefit would definitely be relief from anxiety and stress that school and every day events life throws at me.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you in the gym since you’ve joined?
The funniest thing that has happened to me would have to be before I was able to do pull ups, I was doing pull ups with a band during the WOD and the band slipped and shot through my legs and had me hanging by one leg on the pull up bar. Coach Jessie stood in front of me and laughed prior to getting me down.
What made you decide you wanted/needed to start CrossFit?
I decided to try CrossFit after I was tired of being unhappy in my own skin. I was paying hundreds of dollars a month on a personal trainer and was not getting the results I had wanted. I have achieved personal strength, not only physically but mentally. I strive to push myself every single day with each and every movement.
What would you say to someone on the fence about joining our gym?
If someone was on the fence about joining CrossFit I would simply encourage them to strive passed their comfort level and try something new that is both challenging and rewarding.
